Thinking of good ways to spend this summer? A lot of people spend their summer breaks to rush off to the beaches, enjoy the water and get a tan. Some go camping and experience nature by braving through ‘the wild’ if only for a couple of days. Those who happen to live in places that are too far from the beach and find it too much of a hassle to travel to the beach settle on visiting the nearest swimming pool or spa.
However, if you wish to avoid the crowded beaches and public pools or if you want to try something different this time around why not go local? There are many places in your town that may offer some interesting sights and knowledge about your hometown; some may even enhance your appreciation of the place where you grew up. Check out this sample list:
Local Museum. Delve into your hometown’s rich history and culture. You may be pleasantly surprised to know more about your roots. Plus, you’ll get to meet traveling tourists and get the scoop on places you should go see next.
Local Library. Maybe you have the same hometown as a famous poet or novelist; wouldn’t it be nice to get your hands on a first edition? A trip to the library may also renew your latent interest in reading in your leisure.
Church. Catholic churches in most places have historical relevance. If that isn’t attractive enough for you, the classic architecture and lavish adornments should do the job.
A relaxing afternoon in the park perhaps?
These places are probably ones that you see on a regular basis but do not pay any special attention to.
