Camping

Venturing out into the wild and not-so-wild is one of the most popular activities for families and friends during summer. In fact, nature parks come second only to the beach when it comes to favorite summer getaway spots. You and your family or friends can opt to hike through and camp in the local park or seek more adventure by visiting a distant and less familiar trail. Either way, if you find yourself on the road to your favorite camping site or to some new location, never ever leave home without having the following in check:

A reliable means of communication. Before leaving home, let others know where you are going and leave them a good contact number. Bring spare batteries and secure your phone properly to make sure it is safe from the elements.

Water. Drinking water is extremely important, even more precious than food… but then again you already know that. So make sure you pack enough, you can’t be sure if you will find a good, clean source of potable in the woods.

Trail map. Because one cannot simply rely on instinct, this may be the best time to start learning how to use a map and a compass.

First aid kit. Pack the essentials – band aid, bandages, disinfectants, emergency meds as well as mosquito repellent and antihistamine for allergies.
